The emir of Daura, Alhaji Faruk Umar Faruk says the emirate will not relent in supporting Al-Qalam University to attain greatness, pointing out that the progress made by the university in the last few years was highly commendable.
Speaking in his palace on Wednesday, 13th October, 2020, after receiving the university’s progress report from the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shehu Garki Ado, the emir urged the university management to maintain the tempo of the development going on in the university.
‘’ Vice-Chancellor, I am pleased to receive you and members of your delegation and to tell you that I am proud of Al-Qalam University. The university is in my heart and we will continue to do everything humanly possible to support the university to grow’’. He assured.
Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shehu Garki Ado presented progress report saying that the Covid- 19 pandemic had affected academic calendar of the university and implementation of capital projects.
He said the university’s convocation ceremony scheduled for June, 2020 did not take place because of the pandemic, stating that the university is now looking at December 2020, as proposed time for the ceremony. Prof. Ado sought the support of the emir in reaching out to some prominent citizens of the emirate to contribute into the university’s endowment fund and for the emirate to sponsor convocation prizes to be awarded to outstanding graduands.
