The Katsina State Covid-19 Monitoring Team for tertiary institutions has expressed satisfaction with the level of compliance with covid-19 safety measures attained by Al-Qalam University Katsina.
The university received the monitoring team on Wednesday, 21st October 2020, under the leadership of Special Adviser to the State Governor on higher education, Dr. Bashir Usman Ruwangodiya and inspected facilities available for safe re-opening of the institution for academic activities.
Dr. Ruwangodiya commended the commitment of the university’s management in taking necessary measures as spelt out in the approved covid-19 protocols, urging it to maintain the tempo.
The team carried out inspection of strategic facilities in the university among them student hostels, lecture halls, the temporary isolation centre equipped with a ventilator and PPEs for health personnel.
The team was impressed with staff and students’ level of compliance with wearing of mask, use of hand sanitizer, temperature detecting device and social distancing.
Earlier, Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Shehu Garki Ado said management has put in place all necessary measures to safeguard students and staff from contracting the virus, including early detection mechanisms and provision of temporary isolation centre within the university as demanded. Prof. Ado explained that to effectively achieve physical distancing , academic activities have been decongested as students in 100 and 200 levels take lectures on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and those in 300 and 400 levels on Thursday, Friday and Saturday of every week.
