Youth Association partners Al-Qalam University to fight Deforestation.
Al-Qalam University Katsina is to receive not less than five thousand trees free of charge from Katsina Youth Support Against Deforestation in a bid to support the University to protect the environment from degradation.
The Chairman of the Association, Nafi’u Maharazu disclosed this during a courtesy visit on the Management of the University on Tuesday, 11th July, 2017.
He explained that the association was established because of the strong concern among members to tackle the menace of deforestation in Katsina State considering the lukewarm attitude of majority of the people towards tree planting.
The Chairman said the association has identified Al-Qalam University because of its students population and the need to inculcate the culture of planting and nurturing trees in the upcoming generation.
Responding, the Vice Chancellor Professor Shehu G. Ado appreciated the Visit of the Association and its interest to partner with the University in actualizing its laudable objectives which he also noted that in islam, planting of trees has a special reward.
He called on the association not to relent in seeking his personal support pointing out that he has been supervising University research students in plant breeding for many years.
The association would give the university different species that are indigenous to Africa among them Danya, Dinya and Dorawa trees.
