Congregation Meeting re-affirms commitment to lift Al-Qalam University to greater heights.

The sixth Congregation Meeting of Al-Qalam University, Katsina ended with members re-assuring the Vice Chancellor of their resolve to move the university to greater heights.
The congregation which took place on Thursday, 20th July 2017 afforded an opportunity for the congregants cutting across academic and non-academic staff to freely interact and give suggestions on the overall development of the university.
Under the university law, the Vice Chancellor as the Chairman of the congregation is mandated to convene the meeting of the congress twice in every academic session.
Addressing the congregation, the Vice Chancellor Professor Shehu G, Ado talked about the progress recorded in the university in the last six months among which was the successful accreditation of science and education courses carried out by the National Universities Commission(NUC) in June this year which outcome is still been awaited.
“On behalf of management let me express sincere appreciation to all staff who had participated one way or the other in the last accreditation exercise”.
In the case of accreditation of the Al-Qalam University IJMB programme in the School of Basic and Remedial Studies, which was conducted in January this year, the Vice Chancellor happily informed the congress that the Programme had scaled through successfully.
“In addition, the university had recruited senior cadres of academic staff in areas of urgent need, either on part-time or sabbatical basis to satisfy accreditation and general staff requirements”’.
Professor Ado also mentioned the recent re-organisation in the registry and bursary departments of the university explaining that the move is to enhance professionalism.
On the welfare of students, the congress was informed that a new female hostel had been constructed and donated to the university by a leading philanthropist in Katsina State Alhaji Bilya Sanda adding that the management has also proposed another additional female hostel so that the female students presently at Batagarawa and Dandagoro hostels would finally be evacuated into the campus.
